Color Therapy

Colour Therapy

“We know that man is essentially a being of light and the modern science of photobiology is presently proving this.  In terms of healing…the implications are immense.  We now know, for example, that light can initiate or arrest, cascade-like reactions in the cells and that genetic cellular damage can be virtually repaired within hours by faint beams of light.  We are still on the threshold of fully understanding the complex relationship between light and life, but we can now say, emphatically that the function of our entire metabolism is dependent on light.”  Dr. Fritz Albert Popp, Biophysicist.

When I  talk about colour therapy, people often snicker or turn away, perhaps because they have never heard of using colour to complement healing…or perhaps they think its one of those weird things that other people get involved in…or perhaps a scam of some kind.  Dispelling the myth and mystery around colour is as easy as logging on to your computer and typing colour therapy in your Google Search Engine.  You will be amazed at the mount of information that has been posted by wellness practitioners around the world.

When I first began studying the use of colour for therapy, I thought that colour was originally researched and developed by a German Scientist named Peter Mandel some thirty years ago.  As I researched further, it became obvious that colour is almost as ancient as reflexology, and like reflexology has been used to complement other modalities to help the body restore its balance for several centuries.

Colour light therapy monitors our biological clock, replenishes vitamin D, helps to relieve symptoms of seasonal affective disorder, and has a positive affect on internal organs.         Light builds and strengthens the immune system.         When combined with reflexology, colour light therapy helps the energy to flow to various organs, glands, and body parts and helps to promote healing.   Colour is applied directly to the skin using a light wand and colour rods. Light is absorbed through the pores and is accepted at the cellular level.

In this age of growing interest in non-invasive therapies, is it surprising that light can be involved in healing?

Colour is all around us, and whether or not we take time or enjoy it we are affected by it every day, in every way – through the colours in our homes, offices, cars, and the colours that we wear.   We are also affected by the intensity and amount of sunlight we are exposed to each day.

May people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, known as SAD, when the amount and intensity of sunlight is decreased during the winter.  Applying colour to the face with a light wand that utilizes coloured filters can restore balance to the body. Colour facials utilize the principle of physiognomy to beam colour straight to our cells.  According to Samuel Hohnemann (the founder of homeopathy), “light is the curative force that provides a regulating and balancing force that keeps us healthy.”

Each colour delivers a vibration and energy that is unique and applicable to different parts of the body.   Colour is also used to modulate the emotional factors that are associated with the various body parts.
